Shipping estimates use typical 2026 rate bands (sea ≈ USD 90–140/CBM + USD 150 fixed; rail ≈ USD 220/CBM; air ≈ USD 4.5/kg chargeable; express ≈ USD 7/kg). Always get real quotes from a forwarder. Duty is charged on goods + freight + insurance; VAT on that plus duty plus fees.

Inspection checklist
Give this to your inspector (or use it yourself on samples). Generated from the product spec; tick items as you verify them.
Inspection types: what, when, cost
| Type | When | What it catches | Typical cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Factory audit | Before the first order | Whether the factory exists, capacity, licences, quality system, social compliance | USD 300-600 |
| PPI (pre-production) | Before production starts | Raw materials and components match the spec; golden sample on site | USD 200-300 |
| DUPRO (during production) | At 20-50% completion | Early defects while they are still cheap to fix; real schedule | USD 200-300 |
| PSI (pre-shipment) | At 80-100% packed | Quantity, workmanship, function, packaging, labels, AQL sampling | USD 200-300 |
| Container loading check | On loading day | Right goods, right quantity, condition, loading and seal number | USD 200-300 |
Rule of thumb: PSI on every order above USD 3,000 or with a new supplier; add DUPRO for first orders above USD 10,000.
Defect classification: critical / major / minor
Critical (AQL 0): unsafe, illegal, or makes the product unsellable: sharp edges, exposed wiring, wrong voltage, missing safety mark, allergen mislabelled, broken seals. One critical defect fails the lot.
Major (AQL 2.5): the customer would return it: does not work, wrong colour or size, cracks, stains, bad stitching, misprinted logo, missing parts.
Minor (AQL 4.0): the customer would notice but keep it: small scratches, slight colour variation, loose threads, small print misalignment.
Write examples for your own product into the PI so the supplier and the inspector use the same list.
AQL quick reference (ISO 2859-1, level II)
| Lot size | Sample | Accept / reject at AQL 2.5 (major) | AQL 4.0 (minor) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 501–1,200 | 80 | 5 / 6 | 7 / 8 |
| 1,201–3,200 | 125 | 7 / 8 | 10 / 11 |
| 3,201–10,000 | 200 | 10 / 11 | 14 / 15 |
| 10,001–35,000 | 315 | 14 / 15 | 21 / 22 |
Critical defects: AQL 0 (any critical defect fails the lot). Write the AQL levels into the PI so both sides agree what "pass" means before production.
